Shrine of Padre Santo Toribio Romo

One of the temples is located approximately 10 km. from the town of Tequila, along the road that leads to La Toma, in the locality called Agua Caliente. This temple was built in honor of Santo Toribio Romo, who was canonized by Pope John Paul II.

This place it is where he was arrested and murdered. The places where he was hiding and performed their religious activities in times of the Cristeros are now being rebuilt. Santo Toribio Romo was born in 1900 and was ordered as a priest on 23 December 1922. He died on February 25, 1928 and is one of the martyrs of the Cristero War.

The last Sunday of each month a Mass is offered in the temple; the Triduum Mass take place on 23, 24 and 25 February.  During the days of mass food and other snacks offered to raise funds to continue the construction of the temple. Enjoy this magical place!
